Fabulous product!

Our 12 1/2 year old washer started dying the other day so I went on line looking for a replacement. After looking in several stores, we wound up in LOWES. The salesman, Mike, was great! I had written down several model #'s and he took me right to them to compare each. As soon as we saw this Maytag, it was love at first sight. The size was perfect and we loved all the features.
We did our first super-sized load yesterday, consisting of a double-load of towels, wash cloths, some regular clothes, etc. and a set of sheets. It was amazing! I have never seen clothes come out of a washer so clean and nearly dry. The 2nd load consisted of heavy dark clothes, including jeans and sweat pants, socks, underwear, etc. These also came out beautiful!!!!!
I can't understand what some of the other reviewers are complaining about!!!!! This is the best washer we've had so far. I love the fact that it doesn't have an agitator! It's great and I highly recommend it!!!!! It takes a few minutes to get used to, but that's like anything new!
Pros: Style, Durable, Cleaning Performance, Energy Savings, Large Capacity, Convenient Features, Quiet

Good Washer
Posted May 10, 2012
Bought this washer in Feb., I have had no trouble at all. I did wonder about the fabric softener because I purposely did not get the washer with all the bells and whistles. I laughed when I saw the ball dispenser. My water bill was $40 lower. My clothes are clean. Have had no damage. Would recommend this washer to anyone.

Disappointed in Maytag design, performance, and dependability

Should have gotten refund and bought some other top load model.
The automatic level feature does not perform well, does not completely cover clothing. I put detergent and let it agitate 1st cycle then raise lid insert laundry and cause it to put next level of water. Really bad design.
Had a recent problem, the agitator was on during initial water fill and water level continued to point of overflow. Looked at diagram and location of automatic level sensor which is actually the connected to the temperature dial. Disassembled the back panel of the machine and disconneceted to wiring harness, then reconnected it. Reassembled and tried the machine again, it worked.
So, don't know what caused problem. Otherwise the price of that small part is nearly $100. Noticed part made in Mexico.
Really disaapointed, maybe class action suit should be considered.... I would venture to guess that more than 50% of us who purchased the Centennial are displease but don't really have any options.

Worst Washer on the market

I have never been so disappointed in a washer before. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE, you will regret it instantly. It will leave a white residue and tons of lint on all of your dark loads no matter what brand of liquid he detergent you buy or how little you put in. I only use a tablespoon of detergent and fill the wash machine half full and have to put it on an extra rinse cycle with all the clothes inside out whenever I do laundry. Also it will ruin any clothes that have zippers with it's intense spin cycle and everything comes out extremely wrinkly that not even the dryer can get them out. I now have to iron my sheets for the first time in my life. On top of all that the wash cycle takes over an hour, and that's not including the extra rinse cycle. I know someone else that bought this same model and has had the exact same problems. I only had the machine for a few months and when I called into Maytag they would not do anything, their only suggestion was to put it on an extra rinse cycle. So much for it being energy efficient. I am so disappointed that after only 8 months of owning this machine i plan on selling it on Kijiji for whatever I can get and cutting my loses & buy a new washer. Absolute horrible washer with a company that does not stand behind their products.

Nothing good to say about this washer!!!

Have had the machine for 6 months. After using it the first time, I had my doubts. Didn't like it because I can't open the lid without it starting the wash cycle all over again. The rubber start button would go inside and not come back out when pushed (lightly). Makes strange noises and my dog stands and barks at it (yes, it was balanced when delivered). Recently, the spin cycle stopped working and left water in the machine and in my clothes. Can't wash many towels or heavy loads (even on bulky) and get them clean. By the time I buy special detergent; a load of clothes starts over on the wash cycle 2-3 times; and I can only wash small-medium loads; I'm spending more money using this machine than saving. Tomorrow, a repair man from the store where I bought the machine will be coming to check it out. I was told it is left up to Maytag if I get a replacement? I don't like this machine and I'm on disability. I can't afford to buy another one (after only 6 months, I shouldn't have to). Leaving for the laundrymat with soaked clothes.
Cons: Expensive, Loud, Cleanability

Steer Clear of this one.

If you want a washer that cleans well, and does not leave a residue or lint......you do not want this one....I am forced to now use two washers, if I want to add any type of additional cleaning or bleaching products to my wash I use my old agitator model. I use bluing on some of my white loads, and need to get inside the washer to ensure spot remover has worked, etc. Can't do this in the low water units, and I have to set the load at BULKY and add an extra rinse to minimize lint and residue on dark loads, towels do not come clean, forget washing sheets and blankets, and forget about soaking you loads. A VERY BAD PRODUCT MODEL.....STAY AWAY FROM THESE TYPE OF WASHERS. A VERY BAD INVESTMENT AND MAYTAG DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THIS ONE.

Good machine for the price point

My boyfriend and I bought this as a "starter" washer. We wanted something high quality and energy efficient, yet with a good price point. We've had this washer for about a month now and really like it. The non-agitator feature of the washer is really neat and the high spin speed leaves clothes not so sopping wet leading to less drying time. The only issue I have with it thus far is it sometimes leaves detergent/fabric softener marks on our clothes so I will have to re-rinse certain items. Not a big deal, but kind of frustrating and less efficient when I have to run them through the rinse and spin cycle after they've just been washed. All in all this is a good washer for the price point. We really enjoy its efficiency and the top-loading feature. If you follow the instructions on how to load the washer it can surprisingly hold a good amount of items! I have washed everything from a large load of clothes to a comforter and it does a good job.

Sorry I bought this one...I hate it!

Oh yeay, It takes half the water, BUT, the clothes do not get clean. So I tried putting in half the amount of clothes...they still come out smelly and wrinkled, plus the low water level causes an action grinding of the clothes against each other, and I have found this tends to wear and stretch them out faster.
So I thought, SURELY they have allowed an option to set the water level to your choosing? NOPE! SADLY, I looked and I could not find an OPTION to choose to add moreto the water lever for a fuller tank... Now that I spent the money... I feel STUCK with a very expensive clothes grinder.
I honestly hate this washer.
SO- if a person puts in half the amount of clothes and does twice as many loads of laundry, have you REALLY saved anything at all? Nope, Twice the time spent, you end up using more laundry soap, and in the end...more water for the same amount as a normal top loader that holds more water...
This is my opinion...

Works Fine

Washer was installed by Lowes. They leveled it but did not tighten down the nuts that lock the feet, so I leveled it again and locked the feet with the nuts. Followed instructions per the manual making sure to not cover the disk in the middle. Put a load of dirty, dirty work clothes in and washed it. The noises are different then a normal washer but not any louder then the 10 yr old washer that it replaced. Clothes came out clean, all clothes were wet and clean smelling. Have since done 4 more loads, no problems everything wet and clean. Those loads included sheets and comforter and more clothes. The lid locking is not a problem for us. No spots on the clothes but we are using a liquid HE detergent and adding it before the clothes as the instructions tell you to do. So far so good. Did get an extended warranty just in case. People seem to hate this washer or love it. So far so good. We would be the ones that like it, at least for now.

Wish I read reviews before buying!

I needed to replace the extra large Sears Kenmore washer that I had for 20 years and thought about purchasing Maytag as I had grown up seeing commercials with the Maytag man...thinking that it was a higher end machine. Initially I loved the open drum/no agitator machine. I first stared to notice problems when my kids' race clothes from cross-country were not getting clean after multiple washes. Plus, I thought I was the only one who thought the wash cycle took forever. Then the start button that locks the lid that won't unlock is so annoying! I told my husband I wanted to remove the locking hook, but it is connected to an electrical connection to start the machine so there is no way around it. Now after exactly 1 year from purchase it will not spin or complete the cycle to "done". Right after the 1 year warranty has expired!!! Now I have to pay for a service call for a machine that was purchased 1 year ago. I am not happy.

maytag centennial top load HE washer not recommended

I tried to use this machine for light clothing and light bedding.
I have had to call for service on it TWO TIMES already – the first time at 35 LOADS and now again LESS THAN 10 LOADS LATER!! Its problem centers around the 'lid lock' and 'sensing' functions. This time it won't even allow the repairman to run a diagnostic. If the lid won't lock, the machine won't run.
It has also left dry spots on clothes and HE detergent residue on the clothes intermittently from day one: the troubleshooter section of the owners manual says 'if it does this, add more water to the load'.... Well – when it works right - the machine lid locks & it fills according to the weight of your laundry. You can't 'add more water to the washer' in any way: there is no 'load size' or 'water level' control.
When I was researching reviews on many diferent sites in Dec./Jan., there were virtually no negative comments to be found online, but now I find many. If I had known that there would be this kind of trouble with this brand-new HE Maytag, I would have NEVER paid the extra $$: I would have bought a much cheaper unit.
My last Maytag washer lasted 20 years - and I really used it! I only opted to replace it because of its age, and I truly regret it.

Many other reviewers state to "READ the Owners Manual first and you will have no problems" - like maybe we didn't already try that. Well, I have to disagree with those statements. I have studied that manual cover to cover many times - twice, just to be sure, before I even put the first load in. I have followed every suggestion listed. I even got a reply back from the review center giving suggestions. But, the suggestions DO NOT work either. Eg: -direct quote- "The soil level is adjustable and might have to be changed depending on how dirty the clothing is. The soil level will adjust the amount of water and the wash time. The higher the soil level, the longer the wash cycle will be." All well and good; I assume the 'soil level' refers to the 'deep clean' button. I have to wash every load on 'deep clean' and 'extra rinse' to make sure they are all wet and adequately rinsed, so, hmmm, extra long wash cycle for everything, plus an extra load of water to rinse with - seems to me the efficiency just 'went down the drain'.
I have no doubt that the machine has the potential to be a fine one - when it works - but the quality control at the manufacturing level seems to leave something to be desired, as it breaks down in many instances due to the same issue of its control panel, and usually just after the 1 y r warrantee expires. And in truth, how good are 'special features' if each and every wash has to utilize them; it means that the 'special features' are in reality everyone else's 'regular features'.
It seems like the Maytag/Whirlpool R & D dept. didn't adequately test this model before putting it on the market - rather they depended on the paying customers being the Beta Testers.
This is not going to earn or keep repeat customers.

UNBELIEVABLE CLEANING POWER

This machine performs like no other washer I have ever owned.
When I saw that this machine had no agitator I was kind of skeptical that it would clean very well. And then when I learned
that it only took half the amount of soap and bleach I was even
more skeptical. Well after I washed my first load of clothes I was
a believer. The clothes that I put in the first load had been
washed many times in a conventional washer and had never
come out that good because of stains locked into the clothes.
After washing them 1 time in my High Efficiency Washer they
were so clean they didn't even look like the same clothes that
I put in.
The only complaint I have is I wish I could open the lid up
while it's washing so I could see what it's doing inside. Other than that I'll never again use a conventional washing machine.

Good Value

After 6 months of use, all is well. My guess is that all the bad reviews originate from improper use or extremely high expectations. It's just a washing machine. Machine does use new technolgy and takes some getting used to. Does make different sounds than a traditional top loader. Took about a week for me to get used to it. READ THE MANUAL. I have noticed a decrease in my water bill of about $15.00/Mo. and due to the high spin cycle speed, clothes require less drying time at a lower temp. I always use the "Deep Clean" option and have no idea what it does, but my clothes get clean every time. Use HE detergant and use color safe bleach. The salesman at Lowes told me that despite the negative reviews, he still sees less returns on this particular model than other models of washers in the same price range. I've dealt with him before, I find him to be a reliable source.

Love it, Love it, Love it!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful product. I love this washer, I can't imagine doing laundry with any other machine. It get my laundry very clean and spins the wash almost dry. In some reviews I had read about it people complained about having to shake the wash a little before putting it in the dryer. It is such a small "issue" the fact that it gets so much water out during the spin cycle should be so helpful and cuts down on drying time.
I enjoy doing laundry with this machine and I hope this review helps you decide to buy it. For the price and features you can't beat it.

The perfect simple, solid workhorse of a washer.

Come on. I don't care to show off my washer/dryer. I need it to work for my family, week in and week out, without little plastic pieces breaking off. Without drama. Without down time. This washer delivers everything I need, so we have clean clothes to wear when we do all the IMPORTANT things things we want to do.
Like hang out and watch movies. Go hiking. Go to the beach.
Good, solid workhorse.

HATE THIS WASHER!!!

We have had this washer for over a year now....it takes over an hour to do a load of laundry. The worst part about it is the sensor often gets "stuck" and it will stop mid-load of laundry and forget to spin or gets full of water and does not empty and I spend most of the day trying to finish one load of laundry. It is not reliable. It is slow. It is annoying. I've also had to run some loads twice because it didn't clean the clothes the first time.

Does not clean very soiled clothes well

The clothes do not come out clean. Anything that is really soiled needs to be washed twice. I always use the second rinse cycle because soap is left on the clothes even though I use the recommended amount of detergent. The wash and rinse cycles are very very long. I will replace it as soon as I can afford to do that.

Overall a great washing machine

I have been using this machine for three months and am very pleased with the way it washes our clothes. My husband and I have three children and we do quite a bit of laundry each week. The Centennial EcoConserve does a great job cleaning our clothes; the stains are gone and they smell fresh and clean when transferred to the dryer.
There was a bit of a learning curve adjusting to the low water wash. We had to relearn the wash cycles and make allowances for quantity/weight of items in the drum. Once we mastered the options, the process of doing the laundry has been smooth sailing.
The machine that we replaced was a Maytag and that is why we chose this model. We are very pleased with the consistency of the brand. One minor drawback for the EcoConserve: it makes some loud and unusual noises. Our laundry room is on the first floor of our home so we have to make sure the door is closed while the washer is running.

disappointed

This is my third Maytag in my 71 years. I would not buy this washer again. I don't know if I don't know how to use it or if it is a poor washer. I cannot use fabric softener because the ball won't open and dispense it. I wish I hadn't bought it.
Cons: Expensive, Loud

Highly recommend!

This is the best washer I have owned! And I have owned a lot.
It takes all the guess work out of laundry. Stack your items add detergent and walk away. It takes over from there.
Laundry looks better than ever. Love It!
Pros: Durable, Cleaning Performance, Energy Savings, Large Capacity, Convenient Features

The washer I have is wonderful.

I love the fact that I don't have to use as much detergent as I did with my old washer. It holds a lot of clothes, that I couldn't handle with my other washer. Overall, I just love my new washer.
Pros: Style, Durable, Cleaning Performance, Energy Savings, Large Capacity, Convenient Features, Quiet

Doesn't clean anything

This machine just does not work. I have read the manual cover to cover and tried every cycle and button with no luck. Some of the clothes come out dry, they never even get wet. I washed a pair of jeans that had a small amount of mud on the cuff. I could scrap the mud off with my fingernails AFTER they had been washed. The final straw was washing a load of whites with 1/2 cup of bleach followed by a load of dark brown bath towels. The bleach dispenser didn't dispense the bleach until the second load. That combined with the total lack of agitation destroyed the three towels on the bottom of the load. I guess I should be grateful, if this machine HAD any agitation it would have destroyed the whole load.
This machine also developed mildew after just three weeks. I tried the sample washing machine cleaner on the "clean washer" cycle and it didn't help at all.
I returned it.
If you never have any dirt, grit, sand, or pet hair on your clothes, you don't mind mildew and odors, you never wash anything larger than a twin sheet, you are willing to wash everything at least twice, and never use bleach, this machine may work for you.
Cons: Loud
